Sailing weeks

Sailing is my hobby, and I am a qualified skipper. Now and then I take a team out for a week along the Mediterranean coast: sailing lessons, tech talks and team building, as one full package.

The idea

A week on a sailing yacht changes how a team works together. Everyone takes the helm, everyone cooks, everyone relies on everyone else. In the evenings, anchored in a quiet bay, we talk about the technology that matters to you right now.

A typical week

  1. day 1 Arrive, boat briefing, safety drill, a short first leg.
  2. day 2 Sailing basics: knots, sails, steering. Evening talk: what AI can actually do today.
  3. day 3 A longer passage, with everyone rotating between helm, sails and navigation.
  4. day 4 Anchor in a bay. Team session, swimming, time to think.
  5. day 5 The crew plans the route and sails it on its own.
  6. day 6 Last leg. Evening talk on a topic the group picks.
  7. day 7 Back to port, debrief, departure.

Every week is planned with the group. The weather has the final say.

Tech talks and sailing lessons

Short, honest talks on cutting-edge technology, adapted to the group: AI at work, data, privacy, how software gets built. A laptop on the cockpit table and plenty of time for questions.

No sailing experience needed. You learn the basics on board, and by the end of the week you sail the boat yourselves.

Team building, professionally guided

On request, an experienced psychologist, who is also an experienced sailor, comes on board and leads the team-building sessions. Otherwise I run them with material she developed.

Price

Very affordable. This is my hobby, not my business, and the price only covers my upfront costs: boat charter, harbour fees, fuel and food on board. [pending: price per person]
